Clueless Today

Today was my last day of work until after the spring break and my brain was already for it to be break.  I haven't been knitting for the last few days because of a pulled muscle in my back and this morning I woke up feeling better but still not 100% so instead of knitting I read. The next thing I knew it was 11:21 am and I need to be at the studio by 11:45 am.  Wow! I raced getting ready and just as I was leaving the bedroom to go downstairs and out the door, Mr80grit called and said I was parked in his spot.  This really confused me as I have the covered parking stall plus he works during the day so I couldn't figure it out at all.  So now I am running late and totally confused.

I run downstairs and Mr80grit comes in the door, he has come home to get ready to go to the dentist.  (That makes sense). BTW it is snowing! Snowing? Really? Wow! I didn't even realize.  They have got our hopes up so many times, I guessed I didn't believe it.  But this time it was actually snowing. Of course, it was melting almost as quickly as it fell.  I quickly kissed Mr80grit and walked out the door and this is what greeted me.
Just a light dusting on the lawn.  I headed to work and made it on time and my meeting with my boss was about 25 minutes and when I came out of his studio, it looked like this.
Just sticking a little bit more.  It was pretty much like that all day.  Mr80grit had a perfect checkup at the dentist. (Mine are always expensive, so it is nice that his are routine).  I should have cleaned my car off when I left my office, but I let my wipers and driving take care of it as it wasn't that bad.  So March came in like a lamb and out like a lion.  I can handle that.

Chocolate Fun!

My mom stopped by today at my office to drop off a little treat for Easter.  She is going out of town tomorrow with my Dad to go see my grandmother.  Even though I have been married for sometime, it will be one of the few Easters that we won't be getting together for this holiday.  Mom and I have plans to have lunch when she is back next week.  I have not had this version of Peeps and am looking forward to sharing them with Mr80grit. They are dark chocolate which is my favorite type of chocolate.  Yummy!

Food, of Course!

Thursday night was dinner at home, but first Mr80grit had me stop at the store to pick up Udi's gluten free pizza crusts. When I came home he roasted mushrooms in the oven with olive oil and italian seasons. Yummy!
Then we put the wonderful mushrooms on the pizza....wow! I can't wait to have the leftovers this afternoon!
We did put a little cheese on the pizza when we baked it.  It was a magically experience.

Wedding cake

Our friends got married Saturday in one of the most beautiful ceremonies. The bride's dress was not typical but 100% her!

The bride's mom did the cake. Mr80grit and I got to spend time with the mom on friday night while she set it up. It was a lot of fun. We are so excited for our friends. They are honeymooning in San Francisco.

What a great weekend!

It was a dark and stormy night....

After a day when it snowed while the sun was shinny, it is trying to snow tonight. Today"s weather has been weird. When I left for work this morning (11 am) it was warm, sunny and snowing. Later it switched between rain storms and sun with the temperature dropping. I love weird weather days. They always come in the spring and fall.

Currently heading out for praise band practice. We are doing a special service Sunday night and we need an extra practice. So starts our busy weekend!

Fish and Chips

A few weeks ago, I read a blog review of a new frozen gluten free product.  It was for battered fish or fish sticks.  My mom had just mentioned that they were having fish sticks for dinner.  While I had tried another brand of gluten free fish fillets or sticks, I hadn't been impressed. Then a read a review about Starfish Gluten Free products, did a search and found they were in my local grocery store.  I told forgot to mention this to Mr80grit as he is always looking for a quick easy meal for us on our busy days. Then last week he found these all by himself. So last week we tried the Halibut which was good and tonight was the Cod. Both were good but our preferences was for the halibut.
But I have to say I was just excited for something to taste like I remembered when I ate gluten.  I liked that the batter had a good flavor on its own and was light and not heavy.  It pair great with french fries. Sometimes the comfort food of the past can make my day, even battered fish.  So instead of a Irish meal for St. Patrick's day, we ended up with an english meal of fish and chips.  But we are okay with that today.

Busy Weekends

Yesterday started our busy March weekends. Mr80grit and I have multiple things each weekend to do.  Starting last night with a wedding rehearsal after work.  Today is the wedding, it will take most of the day starting at noon and going until at least 4 pm.  Then we have to set the church back up for services tomorrow. TIYB is playing at Piper Down tonight at 9:30 pm and as we have friends in the band we are planning to be there. Sunday is a lunch at church in the afternoon.  I know for some it doesn't sound like much but for us it can be as it is the detail of each that are energy consuming.

Last night before heading off to the dress rehearsal, I dropped off my finished fingerless mitts to their new owners. She loved them.  They are the Serpentine Mitts by Miriam Felton, The yarn is Lenore from STR.
The last picture is my friend wearing them. She is so very excited.  She asked for a pair for pictures with her band.  I am so glad I got them done in time.

WIP pictures

Here is a picture of the Pram blanket made from sock yarn. Mr80grit really loves the colors and the project is easy to work on while watching TV. When I was going through my sock yarn parts I couldn't believe how much leftover sock yarn I had. I really wish I had the yarn bands as I have a fellow knitter who is using superwash sock yarn to make a sock yarn afghan.  I promise in the future to keep the bands with the extra yarn or at least a copy so I can share my yarn.

This yarn by Crystal Palace - Panda Superwash is very fun to knit. Pictures just don't due justice to the color. It is shiny but not in a metal way and it really soft on the hands.

Here is the simple sock with the Panda yarn, I am calling it Yule Ball as it reminds me of the colors of the Yule Ball in Goblet of Fire.  I frogged the original sock I started on Sunday as the pattern was lost in the colors. Mr80grit is going to find more of this color or if not a color in this yarn as he really like the feel and the look of the yarn.

Rainy Tuesday

During the transition between winter and spring, is that weird weather. Not quite the warm spring showers but not the frozen blizzards of winter. Today was overcast for most of the day until late afternoon when it started to rain. I love rain almost as much as I love snow.  I love the smell of rain, it is in my top ten of favorite smells/aromas.  Today's rain changed my plans for my post as I was going to take pictures of the socks I am working on and also the baby blanket I am making.

I love the baby blanket, it is sized for a car seat/baby carrier or pram. It uses leftover sock yarn.  As I am missing most of the yarn bands for the leftover sock yarn it is really going to be interesting when I wash it for the first time.  Plus looking at those around me in my life there seems to be a lot of opportunity this year to give baby gifts.  So I am going to go budget friendly and use what I have got instead of buying a lot of new stuff for now.  I need to build up my stash fund as I want to buy some cashmere for myself this year.

Tomorrow Mr80grit and I have plans to drop off the baby sweater to my SIL. Our nephew is not due until the 29th but according to the doctor will be making an earlier appearance.  I can't wait to meet this little one.  Her other two sons are precious and very boy! They are always fun to be around. Yes, even when crying and whinnying.

As I see that I might have limited time to knit tomorrow, I must go knit now.  Maybe I will cast on another project, it feels weird to only have two projects on the needles.

After taking a time out from dairy, I started eating it again slowly last week. So this weekend I enjoyed grilled cheese sandwiches on Udi's gf white bread on Saturday. Mr80grit got me a gf pizza from Smoky Mountain on Sunday. What a yummy weeked!

Mr80grit's Birthday

It seems like we never need a reason to go to our favorite restaurant, but tonight we have a great one. It is Mr80grit's birthday and even though we were here on Saturday with family to celebrate, we had to come on the actual day. Let the great time begin!
