Yesterday's storm

11:30 am

Snow on mountains by night

I can't tell it is going to be one of those weird weather summers.  It really never was warmer that 49 degrees all day. In fact, hubby turned on the heat in the evening just to take the damp chill off the house. I so loved that act of kindness.  I love weather, especially raining weather. It does feel strange to be wearing a hoodie on my morning walks on Tuesday and Wednesday, especially since they are calling for near 90's by Saturday.

I am enjoying my morning walks for the most part. I upped my mileage too quickly last week and paid for it. So I have cut back down to 1.7 miles and will wait the seven days to up it again.

Changes coming

Thursday the sun was out and so was the roses

Friday the sun can hardly be seen through the clouds

Fall colors are really coming out in the valley

Well, after an extended sunny weather period in October, the weather is changing this weekend to include rain by this evening with snow possible in the mountains either Sunday or Monday. But I am not holding my breath as each time they tell us that, the storm splits and goes north and south of us. But we will see. I am hoping to finish socks for my brother's Christmas present and then start on my dad's.  Guess I better start my day.  More posts later.

Must Complete

Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile
I have given myself the goal of finishing this pair of socks before I cast on for a pair of mittens or fingerless gloves. This is the leg of the second sock, so with some focused time I should be able to get this done by Friday night.  I really need another set of mittens or fingerless gloves as I only have one pair.

I am really enjoying wearing my handknit socks to work each day. Last year at my old job it just didn't work as well.  But everyday is a different pair, love it.

Cold and Damp Day

Well no snow or rain today but it is definitely cold.  I started this morning going to work it was 39 degrees then it dropped to 37 at 11:45 am. That wasn't good. It has been breezy and cold. It is back up to 39 but the sun is setting and it will be getting colder. I really need to knit some gloves/mittens. I need to finish at least one pair of socks before I cast on mittens.

Another Autumn Day

Today was another gorgeous day, not too hot. Mr80grit got some yard work done in the thimble size backyard we have. I was trying to post another picture from our weekend but blogger didn't want to do it, so another day. We are suppose to get a pretty big storm this weekend. Rain in the valley with heavy snowstorm in the mountains. I am ready! But I will have to view it from the valley as I work this weekend. There will be more storms so I can handle not chasing this one!

Rainy Day at the Fiber Arts Fair

Well it looks Autumn finally hit today, after high 80's all week the rain came this morning and really hasn't let up since. Which is great because I love that kind of fall weather, but today was the Great Basin Fiber Art Fair.

Mr80grit and my mom brave the weather and enjoyed the booths, from the look of the alpacas the weather wasn't too bad. But then again they have nice warm 'coats' on. I got some great fiber on this trip to Wheeler Farm. The farm is about 5-7 minutes from our home.

After a wonderful lunch at our favorite restaurant, Stella's Grill. Mr80grit and I headed to our favorite LYS to finish the got to have yarn for no reason. We meet up with fellow Ravelry friends to have fun knitting, talking and staying warm and dry.

Tomorrow Mr80grit and I plan to go chase the snow and some autumn colors. When we have sunshine I will take pictures of my wonderful purchases.

WIP on Thursday

Here is another WIP for Christmas. I know I said I would not knit for Christmas this year, I am and I am enjoying it.

Weather is suppose to be changing this weekend, just in time for the Great Basin Fiber Arts Fair. But I don't care this 87 degree weather in October is not for me!

Time Warp

Okay, I got lost in time again. It was so bad this time that Pookie told me today, "you have got to post on your blog." So here I am. I have been busy with knitting for the Children's Hospital of Boston. I have slow down recently as my shoulder has been giving me problems. But hopefully soon I will be back knitting up a storm.

I also set myself goals for this year. One was to get healthier, first step was to maintain what I ate as gluten free food can be high in calories. So I went back to a plan that teaches you how to eat really easily. It is working cause in 4 weeks I have lost 10.2 pounds. Not to shabby if I say so.

I do have some pictures to post. I finish the birthday present for Mom. It was a pair of blue socks. I teased her by telling her it was something she asked for, which she did as a side comment in a conversation that we had before Christmas. She received my very first pair of socks that I ever knitted so they were okay but not as good as the latest ones. So I made her an updated pair.

Also Pookie delivered the scarf to his mom yesterday, but forgot to take the camera so there is no pictures of that at this time.

It was snowing big fluffy flakes on the way to work this morning. It was so beautiful I wish I could have stayed home and watched it. At least the air is fresh and the weather is not too cold.

lost in time

I really dread sometimes knitting for a deadline but I do it for myself. I am currently trying to finish a project before Saturday night so I can block it and give it to my mom for her birthday. Her birthday is Saturday, however, due to work schedule we aren't able to get together until Sunday.

We will be going to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants Biaggi's. They have one of the best gluten free pastas and tons of sauces that I have had since going gluten free. The staff has been excellent each time we have gone and several of them know us by name.

It seems like the year just started and here it is February. At least it started off right with snow, the light fluffy kind. I could go without the below freezing temperatures that we have had this year but today at least the gunk is out of the air. Yeah!!! I will post a picture of mom's birthday gift on Sunday after the party!!!
