The End

It is finally the end of a very long work week. I am going to enjoy tomorrow by sleeping in, going to the library, going to my fav LYS to pick up Harry Potter Sock yarn. I have a bubble bath planned. Maybe I will even go out to dinner or late lunch with my hubby. That would be nice. Of course, there will be knitting and maybe even some pictures. I finished the Noble Fir socks and have started Toasted Marshmellow Socks. I need to cast on something just for me. Mr80grit balled the yarn for my next shawl.

I will be working a very weird schedule in October as my co-worker is going to be out for a while. She is the sweetest person and I hate that this has happened to her and wish her a quick recovery.

I am still going to the Great Basin Fiber Art this weekend. I can't not wait. I missed it last year and heard all about it and now I got both days off due to other awesome co-workers! I am going to have a ball of fun!

End of September

It is the end of September and that means October will be here and we will need to go hunt for pumpkins like these that we had last year. I just which the weather would act like the end of September instead of August with high's in the mid to high 80's. I can see red color on the mountains but with the work schedule I have I won't make it up there until next weekend. I want to put my fall wreath on my front door but the colors haven't really started to change down here in the valley yet. I want a really beautiful and crisp fall.

A handful of Chocolate

Mr80grit solved my chocolate issues yesterday so I was well stocked today for work. It came in very handy! Aren't hubbies the best. I think so!

Now for a little knitting. I cast these on right after finishing Mr80grit's socks on Monday. I told myself I was going to do any knitting for Christmas but I have two dear loved ones that I have never made socks for and I just feel the need to do so this year! They both are worth it!

Can you believe almost all my pictures lately have been taken by my camera on my blackberry? It is so awesome!

Not enough Chocolate..

When you need it most. It usually hits me at work in the afternoon, especially when I forget to pack any good kind in my lunch. SF jello pudding sometimes just doesn't hit the spot. I need just a little piece. I don't carry change at work so I am not tempted to buy a big bar of chocolate as I am trying to eat healthier. I always plan for a little chocolate each day. But sometimes when I am overly stressed by toxic people at work, I need a little more than I have on hand. Like today, I totally left home without some....it was a very long day until I could get home and have one delicious piece(s). I feel much better now, and now I am ready for a healthy dinner. Maybe I will have another piece after dinner.

First Day of Autumn

Today was the first day of Autumn. The weather was perfectly Autumn this morning. Light rain with snow in the mountains. As I love rainy days but a cold was trying to keep me down so I didn't get any pictures of the weather taken today. However, I did finish Mr80grit's Toasted Autumn Socks.

As you can see, Mr80grit already enjoys them. Now I just have to block them for Sunday!

Catch Me if you Can!

That is Fergie's theme of life. It tooks months for her to come out from under beds and hiding spots when we first got her 7 years ago. At first, she only wanted to be petted if you were in a controlled environment that she could quickly get away.- under the covers, in the bath tub, etc.
Now she almost will let me pick her up and snuggle. She hates anyone but me seeing it and will make a major fuss if Mr80grit or the others cats see. It also took about 2 years before she meowed, it was just a small squeak for a long time.

Need I say anything?

This is the look I got tonight after having fish for dinner and not sharing with my 'oldest' -Isabelle. She is eight years old and thinks that she should be able to have our food, even though we have never given her any. She is our 'sugar nose' and trys to get to the sweets even when they are in our hands. But she's a cutie!

First Sock Done!

Well the first sock is complete and it fits! Mr80grit was even nice enough to model it for me tonight! I really am enjoying these yarn and may have to make not only myself socks out of it but also maybe I will break down and do a few Christmas presents of it to family members who haven't ever received knitted socks yet. Stay tuned on that!

I do luck out in that Mr80grit doesn't have huge size 12 feet! Especially as the two socks are different widths. It does mean that the pattern/pooling changes in the bigger sock. Which doesn't bother Mr80grit at all.

Today was a beautiful sunny day, to beautiful to spend time blocking the shawl now that is complete but does need to be done in the next day or two so that it can be presented on Sunday!

Back to work tomorrow. Early morning mandatory meeting to start the day! You just gotta love it!

Saturday Update

Well as this is a knitting blog I thought I would post some of the knitting I have been doing. First I finally cast on some socks for the hubby, hopefully I will have them done by the Sunday after the first day of Autumn so that he can wear them to church with his crocs. Yes, he picked out the yarn himself. It is great, not too heavy and very, very soft. It is Tofutsies. I am calling them Toasted Autumn as it have maroon and yellow-orange with black. They are really fun to knit!

I started a shawl back in July for my friend's birthday this next week, the 19th. She is one of those awesome individuals from the seventies with the flower child accent to her clothes. I wanted to do something a little wild on colors that someone would wear and immediately thought of her. It is made from Noro Sock yarn. I love the colors in it. I hope to finish it this weekend so that I can block it this week!

This was the last project I did for myself. Again some half socks which I love. I used leftover Jitterbug yarn from my birthday socks from last year. I am really happy with the results.

Last but not least was the awesome anniversary dinner that we put together. Dry cured ribeye steaks, baked Idaho potatoes, green beans. We sat out on the patio and enjoy the evening along with the food. It was nice and quiet, no obnoxious server or other customers. Just us, toasting our marriage, our family, especially MommaD whose birthday it is today and Cimarron Boy's that was thursday. We have friends that share our anniversary but have been married one year longer. It still amazes us that it has been 11 years! WOW!

My dinner

At least the day seems to be ending well, not that it has been a horrible day. But the week has been stressful. At work we have been advised about some staffing changes. People are taking opportunities within the company which is great. But they are being moved now and not after the outsourcing. It means that life will be a little more interesting in the upcoming months. Not to worry, I have a great team at home and church to support me through this time.

Case in point: I am trying to eat healthier and my hubby is giving me great support. This was my dinner tonight. It was delicious. My family can't believe it that now I eat fish. Up until about nine years ago, I wouldn't touch it. But things change like life does and I have learned to enjoy it. I normally only eat it when we go out, but I challenged my hubby to learn how to cook it at home. For those who don't know, Mr80grit does the cooking around here and I do the baking. Baking you normally have to stay right with the recipe (my grandma ver didn't) and with cooking you can be more creative. Mr80grit is one of those good creative cookers, I can't remember a time that it didn't turn out well.

Tomorrow is our 11th wedding anniversary along with my cousin MommaD's birthday. It has always been very special to me to have my wedding anniversary on her birthday. It is like a little secret that we share together. I am hoping that Mom and I can go visit her for a few days after my job is over. It would be so much fun to have a girl's vacation. But we will see. Now I have a knitting project calling my name and must work on it!

Long Work Week....

The week started off so well, snow! But then it was back to work with two slow days, then Thursday it started to speed up. My work depends on mail volumes, the first of the month is busy but Friday we got clobbered, just like I forecasted. But added to that was a system issue that increased the manual work that day, Saturday and Sunday. So normally I have off Sundays but with this much work, I volunteered to go in today for a half day. Not to bad, hopefully they will have a better day tomorrow so that I can rest and relax and get ready for my week.

So to sum up, no pictures of WIP's or outside pictures. Maybe more this week!

Finding Snow!

Monday dawned very partly cloudy but within a few hours and awesome storm rolled in. So after the rain hit down in the valley, Mr80grit and I headed out and up the canyon to Brighton and Solitude. Halfway up we saw it...snow. At that moment we also realized that the camera was dead and had to use the cell phone camera instead. So the pictures aren't the best, but hey it was the first of September and we had snow.

After going up and watching it snow, we stopped and had lunch at place that locals love. We have stopped there before as they have the best hot chocolate anywhere. I had a wonderful cobb salad and Mr80grit had an awesome hamburger. By the time we got down the mountain most all the signs where gone in the valley that a storm blew through, however, there was snow on the mountains. That is good enough for me. Hopefully all this moisture will helps us have a beautiful fall again like last year.
