Vacation Recap

Wow, what a great time we had last week in Denver, Colorado. That is the longest road trip I have taken in years.  I forgot how much knitting time that it gives you. I am ready to go again.  I really enjoyed visiting with family and old friends. I was able to reconnect with a BFF from college.

First I have a picture of the pair of socks that I finish a few days before my trip, they are the Traveling Socks -Easter edition.

Then I was able to complete my pink BFF socks on the trip home and had to pull out my shawl (no pictures yet) with about 3 hours of drive time left.

While in Denver, I hit 3 yarn stores.  They were very unique and different. The first one I only got needles as I do the magic loop method and the needles I was knitting the pink socks on were 32" inches instead of the normal 40" inches.  I was so glad to change those out.

On Thursday we went to Parker, Colorado for the 2nd knitting shop. It was great, the owner was very friendly and helpful.  I look forward to going back there next time. I picked up beautiful sock yarn and the owner gave my hubby the sticker as he is a Doctor Who fan.

On Friday, we went to the local mall and did the tourist type shopping with a hoodie for me and then we hit the container store. That was a lot of fun.

On Saturday, we headed out to Lakewood, Colorado for the 3rd yarn store and felt right at home. The Recycled Sheep was so warm and friendly. I got two skeins of sock yarn and a great new coffee mug.

We headed back to Utah on Sunday and the miles flew by on my knitting needles. We are already trying to figure out when we can go back.

Lobster and Raspberry Torte....

I have had one of the best meals of my life with my peers and managers from my soon to be over job. We were all taken out tonight for an appreciation dinner. The total works...appetizers, drinks, lobster tails(2), dessert of raspberry almond torte (no wheat flour only almond flour) and coffee. I am so full! I brought home one of the tails for Mr80grit and the dessert. We just shared the dessert....oh my goodness! Yummy! This totally makes up for all the times that they have had food at work and I couldn't eat it. Tonight was a very good night.

Mr80grit met up with me after at the local bookstore for a little more coffee and then shopping with a Christmas gift card. We totally used my part up with a knitting mag, knitting inspiration book by the yarn harlot and a book weight. So all in all I have been totally spoiled today.

I think my pillow is now calling me....goodnight. PS. it snowed again today and more is expected.

All Done!

It is done, all the projects are completed and the groups have left for home. But they did an awesome job! 21 crews completed 30 projects. We were all exhausted in the end and we were ready for our beds last night.

Mr80grit and I stayed until everything was done for the day, we said our goodbyes to group leaders, crew chiefs, supervisors and summer staff. By the time we woke up this morning all the groups were on their way home.

It is too soon to start thinking about next year, but by the time the leaves start to turn I probably will start getting excited for next year: July 4 to July 11, 2009.

But there are many hurdles to jump before then, a lot of knitting and other stuff not to be mentioned now. However, today is for adventure, a knitting store trip to the one in Ogden that I haven't been to, so off we go!
