Catching up this week.

Hubby convince me to take one of the pairs that I knitted this year for my own today as an early birthday present. I have to say they are my favorite pair of socks as they really fit my foot.  It is a short row heel without a gusset.  After wearing all day they still stay up and aren't huge on my feet.

Saturday was a very busy crazy day. Praise band practice in the morning. Helping with A/V for a funeral of an amazing 88 year old man. After the funeral/memorial service I wish I had gotten to know him as he was a character.
This was my favorite visitor at work this week.  His name is Taggart, he is a Burmese Mountain puppy. I met him a few weeks ago and his owner could easily carry him now he is much bigger, but so adorable. One day I want a dog like this.

Weekending

Friday always sneaks up on me, I work earlier that day and it always seems the hardest day of the work week to get up and going. It was a pretty normal Friday that finished up with Preston making spaghetti and garlic bread and we actually enjoyed a date night it at home.  Schedules have changed for the girls so we will see them more on the weekends hopefully.

Saturday morning was extremely rough for me, I needed extra help waking up and mr80grit was chatty which made me want to duck tape his mouth.  But coffee soon made me a human. Band practice was busy and done before I knew it. Then it was time to wrap gifts and head out for a baby shower. I love knitting gifts that the receiver is overwhelmed with delight.  Both mom and dad to be were ecstatic about the gifts. We finished Saturday night off with dinner with Preston's parents at our favorite place! Before calling it quits for the night I did finish my first pair of toe up socks.

Sunday was busy with two church services with lunch and a meeting afterwards.  It was quick and fun but a horrible migraine brought me down in the afternoon. I rallied back later by casting on a baby sweater and after ripping back to the 6th row was able to knit into the night. I also cast on new toe up socks at church in the morning

I think I am ready for the new week. Monday is suppose to be in the mid 50's. Really would like a good snow storm, but it looks like the best we are going to get it rain maybe.

Catching up photos

I finished the baby afghan on Monday, 384 cables...way too many so time for a change no major cables for a bit so boot cuffs for Preston's family is on hold. Working on my toe up socks at night before bed.

Socks Down, Socks Up

Last night I had no focus to do cables, so I finished my first socks of 2015. Then instead of going to work on the afghan, I found myself casting on new socks, these will be a new thing as they are toe up. I have tried once before to do toe-up and I failed. This year again on my list to learn was toe - up. So I first tried the turkish cast on which I will try again, then I did the Jenny Magic Cast on. I am doing a MKAL  for the toe-up sock. The 2nd clue came out on Wednesday, so I am a week behind.

The mystery sock will have cables so I am excited to see what happens.

All about keeping warm

The last few days have been wet and cold, so yesterday it was all about drinking hot drinks. Coffee at the office, that also helped keep me awake. I finished the day knitting with a wonderful cup of hot tea, which relaxed me and made for an enjoyable night of sleep.

The way I watch football

So last night was the first college football playoff finale with Ohio State defeating the Oregon Ducks.
I spent most of the game trying to knit on my baby afghan.  Which was hard as I was talking to the players on the tv. I love Oregon, I just wished they would have been able to capitalize on their drives.
More football coming this weekend as the NFL playoffs continue, my Cowboys are out and now the Seahawks and the Packers will be playing to see who goes to the big game.  Hopefully by then the afghan will be done and I can do simple sock knitting which is easier to do on big games.

As I wasn't prepared for yesterday's really cold and wet weather, not I am feeling under the weather. I am dressed better today and hopefully will rally quickly.

Knitting time increased

Well with the beginning of a new year, a new schedule has developed. My hours at work have cut back due to business needs which as I got accidentally glutened at the end of my vacation, the new start time is really working for me. I am able to go back to sleep after spending hours awake in the middle of the night.  I get a couple of hours of knitting done in the morning and a few hours in the evening.  So I am making progress not only on my socks but on the baby afghan I hope to have done for the baby shower on the 24th.  I don't know who the socks are for, they are going into the pile for next Christmas. I luck out and have about 6 people that wear all the same size of shoe, so I can knit a bunch at this size and figure out later to whom they go!

Time to heal

Time to heal means a lot of time sitting in a comfy chair with my feet up and my knitting, if Fergie isn't in my lap demanding pets. Fergie has become my therapist, making sure I don't over do it. It will be hard to go back to work on Monday, but as I am healing and need to be in the office this next week as it will be the last week of work this month. I love that I work for a place that closes for Christmas.

Since the snow on Saturday

I have finished two more pairs of socks for Texas and only have one left.
It was extremely cold yesterday and although I knew I wouldn't be cold as I have enough lovely handknits to keep me warm, I just wasn't ready for the extreme cold. Luckily today is a lot warmer.

Maniac Monday

Well the cooler days have come, which brings me joy.  I took the morning to indulge in hot tea, warm bubble bath and knitting time.  A morning walk would have done well also but after an emotional draining weekend having a no hurry morning is just what was needed. I finished my required knitting last night and started on extra knitting today.
I have some goals both knitting and personal ones for November, so let the fun begin!

Sleepy Sunday

Well it is Sunday evening and with the time change already dark. But I am loving it as it was a rainy cold day, perfect for napping.  I sitting down to finish the last of my required knitting for Christmas, everything after this pair of bedsocks will be extra.

Not many pictures taken this weekend but that is okay. Maybe I will try my hand at the NaBloPoMo 2014, this month. The picture was this morning at band practice before service.  Boy that coffee was good.

Last Day of October

Today was a beautiful morning, an actual warm Halloween day. It is suppose to be 76 degrees today. So after a quick mile walk, I had my morning tea outside in the backyard as the weather is changing tomorrow with a chance of snow in the valley on Sunday.
I cast on another pair of the turkish bedsocks for Christmas presents as I finished the other pair last night while Preston and I were watching TV. Is it really TV if you are streaming? No clue.
Tonight we are taking pizza and heading to the parents so help hand out candy. Mom is under the weather so dinner arrangements are up to us. Dad, of course, is thrilled that it is pizza.

A quick update

Keeping my toes warm on Sunday

Relaxing at the Tea Shop

a little knitting at work
Mainly what has been going on in life is a lot of knitting and getting ready for cooler weather. After a nice warm Friday and Saturday the cold air came in at least for a few days. The end of the week is suppose to be back up in the mid 70's with another storm coming Saturday with possible snow in the valley on Sunday.

Three on Thursday

Yes, I stole the idea from Carole's blog today.  This week has been categorized as not fun.
1. Hubby bought a new hard drive for the computer and then I took from Saturday Night until late Tuesday night before it was ready for me to use again. This meant watching regular television instead of streaming at night.  So I watched a lot of football and caught parts of both World Series games.

2. A wonderful young talent man that was part of the music program at my work, past away on Monday night.  How or why doesn't need to be discussed here but the loss is quite deeply felt by all.  He was amazingly talented and will be dearly missed by all. As I answer the phones for the business/school I have heard quite a few amazing and wonderful stories about him, the emotion of this loss has taken its toll on me and each day after work it takes a while for me to recover.

3. I am getting a lot of knitting done on Christmas presents and probably will finish the pair for my brother today as I just have a few inches left on the foot before the toe decreases. I love catching a few minutes in the morning to knit outside after my walk as the weather while cool in the morning has been sunny.

End of the Week

The end of the week was a little crazy, had to go for coffee on the way to work on Thursday and then again on Friday...Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Finished Em's socks on Thursday night, relaxed on the patio this morning after my walk, getting a little Vitamin D.  Then dinner on the patio with a little knitting of the new socks for Preston, along with a well deserved hard cider.
