When all else fails...check out what Mom bought!

Okay Mr80grit and I have an opportunity to get our pictures professionally taken tomorrow when I have one taken for work but I need to dress in black. Great I think...I don't own anything black and it was 6 pm on a Friday night on my way to dinner with both set of parents. Mr80grit says don't worry we will find something after or in the morning.

After dinner it was too late but to go to a retail general store. Dressing rooms of course were closed. So bought an option, brought it home, tried it on...great in theory but too small. So back to the store it goes. I walk into my closet thinking, what women gets to this age without something black to wear (okay yes I have a black skirt and black dress but nothing rock and roll). So you have to understand my closet is separated by color not by type. So I wander back to the far back corner of the closet beyond my blues and I see something. I pull it out, and realize it was something that my mom bought for my new job as it is a long sleeved t-shirt with design and a matching jacket...in black..that she got for nearly nothing. I should have just asked my mom if she remembered buying something for me in black. So now I am set for tomorrow.

Yes for the record almost all my clothes have been picked out by my mom and my husband. They have the patience to shop ( I have absolutely none) for shopping and they are extremely good at it as I have some awesome clothes.

The Dentist..Final Step

I finally finished up the last of the work on the top arch in my mouth. I had one crown/tooth that was 'angry' when all my dental work was done in July. (That is was the dentist called it). So it had to go in timeout for a while and so the crown was put in temporarily while it made up it mind. The choice was calm down or root canal. So we waited until today to find out. It came off when I ate a jelly bean last friday and has been waiting until today to go back in. ( I did get it to hold with toothpaste).

So this morning, bright and early it was off to the dentist. After a good cleaning of the tooth and the crown, it was determined said tooth had decided to calm down. Great News and the crown was put in permanently, but what was even better it was done without any numbing medication!!!! (And it didn't hurt!) Yeah!!!!

Good now, I can say 'All Done!'

The Actual Birthday day

I start my day off with some beautiful berries pictured below...picture taken before I add the whipped cream. Yummy! I followed it up with a bubble bath and chocolate!

Then it was off to work with Mr80grit driving me and setting me up with my normal lunch which today wasn't bad because Mom stopped by with coffee from my favorite local hut. Yummy! She visited with me and then was off again.

Mr80grit picked up wonderful gluten free cupcakes and then made dinner at home. See his blog to see how big a deal that was. It was totally a delightful day.

Day One

Okay..first day of my new age. Things I am hoping to accomplish this year. To blog everyday but be okay with myself if I only get 5 of the 7 days blogged.

I am going to make healthier food and lifestyle choices.

I am going to knit projects that I really love not ones that should be done!

Some examples of projects I am enjoying are the following:

This beautiful pink stole...

Here it is close up

Mr80grit's birthday socks...I really like Lorna Laces yarn!

So now off to pamper myself for my birthday before work!

Just to clarify..

my birthday is not today but tomorrow the 24th. I know I was confused when I did the post too.

The day before...

it is the day before I start my journey of my last year in my thirties. I decided that I am going to use this year to prepare for the next decade. I have set some goals to reach each day, month and quarter. I wish I would have done this when I turned 29 but you can't go back. My 29th year was crazy anyway. So I am using today to set the goals up, finish off a few things to get ready. It isn't that I am dreading the next decade, it just takes time to get use to a think but I hear that they are great years. So let us see!

Fridays are amazing

It has been a while since I understood that whole TGIF thing. (for fellow blondes that doesn't mean toes go in first). I am getting more excited about weekends with each passing week. I love that I get to hang out with my hubby all weekend long. Yes, we are each others best friend. We really need to focus on the house this weekend. But it is already has the makes of a busy weekend, band practice on Saturday for like three hours as the contemporary band is learning a new song. Plus they are doing photo shoots for the kids in the different bands for work tomorrow too and I might wander there as they are in the same building as our practice.

Fridays are short days in the office for the teachers too. They only teach until 6 pm instead of the normal 9 pm. So I usually close the office up on Fridays. Tomorrow a few of the teachers have lessons so I have to print there schedules and leave it for them.

The downside of sitting by big windows that face south is that by 4 o'clock in the afternoon on really sunny days like today the front office area is a sauna even though it is cold outside, Crazy I know but I can handle it! I love having windows.

Knitting - I really need to do some knitting especially on mr80grit's thank you socks as I am ready to be done if you know what I mean!

Does this seem like I am rambling??? It does to me so that means I sign off for now!

Coffee and a little knitting.

Good Morning Tuesday! It is a beautiful stormy day here in Salt Lake. Perfect for a little coffee and knitting. A few weeks ago or maybe it was a month ago, Mr80grit moved the coffee pot from the first floor kitchen up to the 3rd floor master bedroom. That was a brilliant idea if there ever was one! Now I brew my own instead of grabbing it at the local coffee shack. (Sorry...must have more coffee....)

I am back...now on to Mr80grit. Since he was so very wonderful during the last three crazy months of my corporate job I thought he deserved another pair of socks so about a week and a half ago we went to our favorite LYS and I let him pick out his yarn. One color for the thank you socks and one color for his birthday socks. So here is a picture of the 2nd sock of the thank you socks. Better know in our house as HP socks, they are Lorna Lace Shepherd Sport color Flames but because of the pooling the color looks like Griffendor House colors.

Here is a close up of the first sock finished on Sunday. He really, really likes them and gives me all the time I need to knit them as he wants to wear them to church on Sunday. Yes, with his Hawaiian Shirt, Shorts and crocs. He is cute and I love him!

Our Valentine Weekend

--Be aware Medical stitches shown in post.

We started off the weekend on Friday night, which was 12 years since our first date, with dinner at our place. Where we sit at Table 37, with our favorite server named Mike. We had ordered dinner and started to enjoy our evening when it was interrupted by FRIDAY THE 13TH.

MrHarley called to let me know that paramedics where at my parents house as Mom had taken a fall off the couch. After further discussion, it was related that mom was standing on the couch (yes that is right) hanging up somethings on the wall when she fell backwards and hit her head on the wall that separates the kitchen from the family room. My Dad was going to take her the ER as the paramedics said it would be okay.

As I really hadn't eaten well that day, Mr80grit made me eat my dinner before joining them at the ER. Good idea as we were there for several hours. My mom is very lucky. She was bumped and bruised with a long cut on her head but overall she is in good health. She ended up with 8 stitches in one of her favorite colors blue, see below.

Mr80grit and I hung out at the hospital and then went home with my parents. Mr80grit and I are unfortunately the ER pros of the Utah family as I have gotten to the ER many times in our marraige and he only once. But I have to say, if you have to go, take Mr80grit - he just gets things done and answers when you need them.

After a very late night, we woke up to a beautiful landscape of white on Saturday morning. Which both of us love, if you have been read this post for a while you know. It just made the day perfect, after band practice and a bunch of errands, I got a wonderful afternoon nap. We took dinner to the folks house and visited for a while. Overall it was a very nice day.

Mr80grit gave me for valentines my very own Puppy Love, now it just needs a scarf!

Sunday was a day spent with church family and friends and I even got a little knitting in. I will have to take pictures later when the sun is shining.

Day Two of New Adventure

Found me flat on my back in bed due to throwing my back out this morning. It has been a very long time since I did it this bad. My mom's birthday brunch was this morning and my bad went out while I was getting ready. So I struggled through it, and even when to work for two hours then headed home.

So this the ceiling in our bedroom.

This is the view on the right side.

This is the left side.

Just please remember we rent so the colors aren't our choice.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning with the chiropractor. So now I just have to get through this evening. Mr80grit is handling my tv viewing choices quite well. I did finish a sock today and casted on another one this evening.

The last few days in my life.

This last week as been a little surreal to say the least. Thursday was the "BIG" celebration before the first round of layoffs..or as I have come to see it - the first escape. My now former place of work is still one of the best places to work I think in corporate America. The center I worked at was one of the best but that is due to the leadership there. The people that work there are some of the best and I will miss many of them including my assistant.

On Thursday, I didn't say goodbye to her and so she stopped by at my new work on Friday with this beautiful flowers and a card to make me cry.

Luckily she brought her wonderful children with her and they helped us from sobbing all over the place. I have only read the card once so far, I keep tearing up so it will have to wait a few days.

So I decided that night that I needed to leave something to remind her and thank her for all her wonderfulness. So I got a pink cute puppy and knitted it a scarf full of love. Light purple is her favorite color and the scarf has that in it.

I worked on Saturday and left this guy along with a nice note on her new desk as she changed departments. I got very emotional when I wrote the note and when I left it on her desk.

She is a very dear friend and I have said it before and I meant it. I plan on keeping her!

On Saturday, I decided that I would do everything that made me feel good, starting with a huge coffee from my favorite local place. See below, I think this was a coconut ivory mocha. Yummy!

One of my dear employees, bought me lunch from one of my favorite burger joints! We had a nice long lunch. Then at the end of the day, everything decided to break so instead of leaving at 5 pm, I finally left at 7 pm. It was a perfect end. When I went to leave, I saw no one. I grabbed my bags, walked out of the building for the last time that way, I said goodbye to the building and left. It was really peaceful and calm.

Then it was out to dinner with Mr80grit for a fabulous dinner that ended with my favorite dessert, they sure cut me a big piece this time!

Sunday was a nice quiet day spent with friends and family watching the superbowl. (at my new bosses house)

Today I got ready (with makeup) and when to my old work to sign the formal papers and was done by 9:45 am. I got to say goodbye to some others that I missed last week and even saw my dear friend. (We notoriously dressed a like and we did today). I am going to have to come up with a good blog name for her.

Now it is on to the next adventure!
