Yarn Along - Four Corners

I finished last week's book and last week's afghan. The green four corners afghan did go to the little baby girl after I posted a picture of it on Facebook and her mom liked it immediately. I was able to give it to the precious new baby girl and her parents on Sunday. They were blown away to find out the afghan was for them. They love greens and this fit perfectly.
So what am I reading and knitting today? Well on Saturday, I found out about a baby shower for another friend on the 23rd of March. This time it is a baby boy, so off to my yarn store to start another four corners blanket.
I also started Let's Pretend This Never Happened on Monday while at the dentist. ( I have spend way too much time and money at the dentist).  I have laughed a few times and can't wait to see where this book goes.
I have put the socks I was knitting in time out to focus on the baby afghan with the speedy deadline.  But then I couldn't help myself I cast on the replacement hat for my Em.  I knitted her a simple hat at Christmas but it was way too big, so I told her any hat she wanted.  She loves this one that I did along time ago but both her and Amy have loved it to death and needs to be replaced so on Monday I started one for her
So what are you reading? and what are you knitting? Joining Ginny

Top 10 on Tuesday

Today is suppose to be the  10 Reasons Why You Are Ready for Winter To Be OVER.
Okay here goes
  1. I want to eat outside! I love having dinner out in the backyard, it makes me happy.
  2. I am ready for the flowers of spring....but wait that means seasonal allergies.
  3. I want to get away and camping is my favorite quick way, which is not very fun in the snow.

10 Reasons I am NOT ready for Winter to be over
  1. I am enjoying not having seasonal allergies.
  2. I love snowy days even when I have to drive in them
  3. In May is the big Recital for work, I am totally not ready for this yet
  4. I am not ready to give up my hoodies yet for sandals. I would say shorts but I wear them in the winter also.
  5. I don't want to rush through the upcoming birthdays, holidays.
  6. I still want to lose a little weight before I can't hide in my hoodies and coats
Okay so I can't come up with 10 reasons either way, but I am okay with that as I like seasons. Normally all of them except for the days the temp is 100+

Snow, Fun, Food, Friday

I woke up to a snow storm which I wasn't ready for today. We were suppose to get a big storm two days before that never showed up but this morning we woke up to a few inches. Preston said the commute to work wasn't fun but by the time I got up and out it was fine.  I stopped for coffee again, another raspberry mocha. So made my day!  So did the the food and drink at dinner tonight.  Tonight kicked off my birthday weekend and so far so good!

Yarn Along - Baby Blanket Edition

Well today's yarn along includes an almost completed baby afghan. I love the four corners afghan. The baby I was knitting this one green afghan was born on Saturday and is a beautiful baby girl. So I think I will revise this in more feminine colors as I have another friend due soon with a baby boy.

I finished the book Sarah's key for book club over the weekend as I was under the weather.  I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I look forward to the discussion at book club on March 11th.  I am currently reading How to Eat a Cupcake. I am starting to really enjoy it, it is a reader's choice from the library.

I have gone to the library two days in a row and picked up new books to read, those that I have placed on hold and those I just pick up as I walk around browsing. Here are the pictures, it will be interesting to see which ones I pick up and read.

Yarn Along Wednesdays

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well by Ginny

I am joining the yarn along by Ginny this week. I have been reading her blog and others that are doing the yarn along for a few weeks now. I love seeing what others are knitting/crocheting and reading. I have added a few books to my read list and quite a few projects to my knitting list.

As of today, I am currently reading two books. One for Book club and one for me.  Sarah's Key is the one for book club and How to Eat a Cupcake is a Reader's choice from the library.  I am just about 10 pages into both so I don't have an opinion yet other than I do like both writing styles.

I have three current knitting projects on the needles. First is a baby afghan called four corners. I have really enjoyed this pattern and will probably make it several more times.  We have a ton of friends that are pregnant. The one closest to her due date have decided to be surprised and not know the sex of the baby so probably this afghan will go to them.

I always have socks on the needles. Here are two of them, one is the sermon socks in gray and my toe up socks in red.  Both are not getting much time these days but hopefully I will be able to show progress in the upcoming months.

So what are you reading/knitting?

Top Ten on Tuesday

The Ten on Tuesday topic for 2/11 is 10 Fun Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day.

  1.  Sent Valentine's to friends and family. I like to do this in the mail as there is always something awesome about getting something fun in the mail.
  2. Give chocolate!
  3. Wear Red. It is one of my favorite colors
  4. Get a special coffee at my favorite coffee place.
  5. Make peanut butter kiss cookies!
  6. Spend time with my hubby ( and our four pawed girls)
  7. Tell those around me how much I love them
  8. Have a special dinner
  9. Relax with a book
  10. Knit with red yarn!
I know this holiday is not a favorite.  But take the time to be good to yourself this day. Remember spring and warm days are ahead. Focus on what you have not what you don't.  Have a great day, enjoy some great food - especially great dark chocolate, enjoy your loved ones! Smile!

Weekend Past

Wow that weekend went a lot faster than I wanted it to.  I had fun even though I was fighting a cold all week and by the weekend I was totally sick of being sick.  Friday night Preston and I had a great date night. I got a movie for us to enjoy and we got pizza for a local place.  (it is the best gluten free pizza but it hits the spot without going to Park City or Layton).

Saturday was a busy morning with praise band practice in the morning and a quick lunch then a three hour nap for me. It was just what I needed.  I spent the rest of the day/evening knitting and watching Netflix.  I got a little reading in. Preston did his own thing, running errands while I slept and then taking his own nap.

Snow greeted us when I woke up from my nap and then snowed on and off the rest of Saturday and Sunday.  After church on Sunday, we head to brunch at one of our favorite restaurants. My plate had a ton of food on it!

I spent the rest of the day knitting on an afghan for a new baby, but forgot to take pictures. I did snap a picture of the current sermon sock.  When I am in the sound booth on the weekends I do knit. I have been doing this for years. But this year I am naming my socks with those titles.  Yes, all the pastors know I am knitting while they preach. A few of them have received a pair of socks.

This picture is from the start of the day. I did get a few inches added through the two services. I will try to take some pictures of the afghan tonight.  I am really enjoying it.  I have also started a toe up sock but it isn't as fun.

Ten on Tuesday

Today, Carole asks us What We Miss From Our Childhood.  Here's what I miss:
  1. My grandparents. I miss the time talking with them and spending time with them. Many times as an adult I would loved to ask their advice. I got to spend some great times with not only both set of grandparents but two great-grandmothers.  One of my great grandmothers taught me how to crochet and I have her crochet hooks. Each time I use them I think of her.
  2.  Saturday morning cartoons. They just don't make them like that anymore. I loved Tom and Jerry, the Roadrunner,
  3. Camping/Motorcycling trips. My family would go to on the long weekends and some of the short weekends of summer with friends. Even my mom would ride a motorcycle on the trails.
  4. Summer camp. It was church camp from about 5th grade on. It was always as great time!
  5. Playing in the sprinklers with my friends.
  6. Recess..three times a day outside to just run around
  7. Christmas magic.  The magic of Christmas and how long it took for Christmas to actually get here.  Not like now where you seem to blink and it is here.
  8. Roller skating on Saturday afternoons. I had the best skates with pink pom-poms!
  9. Road trips. I loved taking over the backseat and going everywhere with my parents and brothers.
  10. Riding bikes in the neighborhood. I loved my neighborhood when I was a kid, Everyone had a bike and we would ride up and down the streets all day it seemed.

Naps with cats

After a busy morning with brunch for my mom's birthday. I have been hanging out in the bedroom reading and relaxing as the girls nap. I am fighting a cold that has been trying to attack me for a week. Not feeling up to even knit today and worse yet, I had no desire to watch today's football game. Both are not typically of me, so I am staying warm, reading and drinking plenty of fluids. Hoping with the rising sun tomorrow I will be back to full health.
