Last Day

Okay I am getting kind of anxious about tomorrow. My last day...wow..my mom tried to warn me that I would have mixed feelings and I didn't listen I really should have as now I am quite wired and anxious. I need to go to bed and relax. I did get my special project finished and I will post pictures later.

A few thoughts

My mind is kind of scattered today. Yesterday was the last day working with a majority of the people I work with at the old job. We had a celebration lunch, in which they made sure I had a gluten free meal, which was incredibly nice. I said some goodbyes but then it got too much so I left without seeking out everyone including one of my dearest friends. But as I see it, that is one of the relationships that I plan to actively keep alive so it would be goodbye anyway. But I decide to do a little special project for her and hopefully I will get it done today so that I can leave it on her desk tomorrow when I am at work.

Snow finally!

We have been dealing with fog/smog for the last week, which is very yucky. But it started to rain on Friday and Saturday, then yesterday Snow! I love it. I was the perfect gift for my last Sunday working! I have only three shifts left at the old job and then next monday, I go in to sign the papers! I am laughing that my last official day is 13 years from my first full day. I just can't get over how that all is working out!

Knitting a goodbye

Well as I am in the habit of knitting socks for occasions, I couldn't help myself from knitting a pair of socks for the day I sign my severance package. So one sock is complete...now I need to finish the other one!

An awesome day- full of blessings

Wow what a day. I really didn't understand the emotions I would have at the end of my job. Today I had to go to my department manager and give me official notice that I would not be extending my time with the company. It was actually hard to get the words out but once I did, it was total relief! I am much more relaxed and excited for the new adventure! I did have a few concerns about my new job as the person I was replacing had been going back and forth about leaving the job. It was kind of nerve racking for me as I have a totally different style than she does. But good news, when I went into work today, she told me that her last day is tomorrow as she has found another job. I am really excited for her as it is an awesome opportunity for her and will fit with her long term career goals. I am now feeling that this job is mine and that makes me even more excited.

So as the countdown goes, I am loving the feeling of more freedom and less stress. (more time to knit!!!! Yahooo!) I am going to miss the friends I have at the other job but those who are true friends I will keep forever.

Moving on

Well I counted down the days yesterday at work. I only go into the office for full days 7 more times. Wow! I can't believe that it is almost here. My last day in the office is exactly 13 years from my first day. That is so wild. January 31st.

I have started to bring things home from the office that made my life nice there. So Saturday my Hawaiian bears from Bea came home to now grace my bedroom bookshelf as my new office is open to the public and I don't want to lose this precious pals!

It is seeming very strange to know that the last day is in sight. They did offer to extend 30 days, but with my other job already in the works, I declined. So on to having weekends and holidays off! Yeah!

First project for 2009 complete.

Some knitting has been done this year. I was half way through these two pairs of socks when the new year began. They are socks for my Music Minister and his wife. He is a big Broncos fan so I tried to find a colorway close to that. He wears a size 12 shoe so I used the remaining yarn out of the skein for his wife's sock so that using two skeins I got a pair for both of them. Now I can wait to give them their socks.

How to relax..

This is how I relaxed last night after a long day. Thank you dear friends for your replies to my question.

Valentine's is a special time for me and Mr80grit. We met in January 97 and had started to hang out quite a bit then. He didn't like Valentine's then as his ex had divorced him on the 13th of February the year before. (The judge in Florida didn't allow divorces on the 14th.) So I scheduled the 13th of February off from both of my jobs and let him know that I had the day/night off. So we had our first 'official' date on the 13th of February which was an awesome date with him already arranging for me to get flowers on Valentine's. So instead of my guy hating Valentines it is one of our most favorite times of the year. (i don't think his ex planned it that way). :}

Valentine Candy

Valentine Candy has been a part of Mr80grit's and I relationship since we first dated 12 years ago. Our favorite then and now is Dove Chocolates. However now it is the dark chocolate and when we first dated it was milk chocolate. Sometimes it is the really good local chocolatier's specialties or sometimes it is just hershey kisses.

Today it is a mixed bag of snickers, m&m's and twix. I wish there was some mint patties in it but that is okay. If you can't tell already, we love chocolate. What is your favorite treat?

Lobster and Raspberry Torte....

I have had one of the best meals of my life with my peers and managers from my soon to be over job. We were all taken out tonight for an appreciation dinner. The total works...appetizers, drinks, lobster tails(2), dessert of raspberry almond torte (no wheat flour only almond flour) and coffee. I am so full! I brought home one of the tails for Mr80grit and the dessert. We just shared the dessert....oh my goodness! Yummy! This totally makes up for all the times that they have had food at work and I couldn't eat it. Tonight was a very good night.

Mr80grit met up with me after at the local bookstore for a little more coffee and then shopping with a Christmas gift card. We totally used my part up with a knitting mag, knitting inspiration book by the yarn harlot and a book weight. So all in all I have been totally spoiled today.

I think my pillow is now calling me....goodnight. PS. it snowed again today and more is expected.

At the end of the day...

Nothing is better than a diet coke with lime at my favorite restaurant. It snowed again today and I didn't think to take pictures until we went out to our 'place' for dinner.

On the needles

I have start the 3rd sock of 4 for the bronco fans. I have one in size 12 (men's) done and one in size 7 (women's) done. I am hope to finish these quickly. I am enjoying the magic loop method.

I start my weird January schedule today. I am off from my old job on Fridays and Mondays, so I work those at the new job. I cover 4-6 on Wednesday at the new one for the first two weeks then cover Tuesday through Thursday 4-6 for the last two weeks along with Mondays and Fridays. (Yes, this means I am working every day in January except MLK, including weekends.)

The old job is still quite busy. They have a lot to do with the outsourcing to be done by February. Now they are keeping 30 employees and 2 managers. So only about 1/3 are losing their jobs.Which is a good thing.

Well I am going to enjoy my morning off and do some knitting and maybe watch some food network.

New Years Correction

Okay did a little knit and relooked at my list:

I did 62 totally projects:

29 instead of 27 mini socks
5 instead of 4 ornament socks
1 dishcloth - it was a special project for Mr80grit so I forgot.

Looking forward to 2009:

I still am working on the Forest Camo Shawl for myself
I have two pairs of socks half done...wait to cast on the other two

I look forward to a slightly crazy January and a calm and fun rest of the year with more photos!
