We got a little snow

Well it tried to snow all day yesterday and rained more than anything. But as we were heading to bed last night it was snowing and sticking to the grass. This morning it was snowing when Mr80grit left for work and I had a wonderful morning walk in the snow. I only got one photo but I will share.
As this is the first snow, it never really sticks and never on the sidewalks. Cars? yes. Greenery? yes.

I wore one of my favorite pairs of socks yesterday. I love the yarn colors and the pattern which is the Burrow I believe.  I haven't had my cup of coffee yet so bear with me.

So that is all for now. The snow isn't suppose to stay for now but that is okay.

Moments from Monday

Well it definately was colder yesterday so I was able to wear more hand knit socks.

The mountains started to get some snow yesterday and they looked so beautiful!

I finished a pair of socks for Christmas giving on Saturday and then immediately cast on another pair also for christmas.  I made a little progress on a hat yesterday too!

They are forcasting more rain and snow today so I can't see what we actually get!  The clouds are rolling in as I write.  I am excited to wear hand knit socks again today. Can you tell I really love my socks? Yes I sense a theme of taking pictures of them each morning!

Big Storm coming in!

Well it is early Monday morning and some areas of the valley already have snow! I can't wait for it to show up at my house.  But it is still raining here.  It is 35 degrees outside and yes I remembered to put flannel sheets on the bed this weekend. Mr80grit left this morning for work wearing his new hat!  But as I have no snow pictures yet.  It is still dark outside, I thought I would post pictures from our quick walk on Saturday up the canyon.

It had rained Saturday morning but it had stopped by the time Mr80grit got home from work, so we quickly got ready and up we went. Here are pictures of where we parked our van.

Everywhere was carpeted with leaves. It was so very beautiful and it was snowing leaves on us everywhere. It was also very quite and peaceful.

I am so glad we got a chance to go up before the snow came as most of the leaves will be gone by then.

Changes coming

Thursday the sun was out and so was the roses

Friday the sun can hardly be seen through the clouds

Fall colors are really coming out in the valley

Well, after an extended sunny weather period in October, the weather is changing this weekend to include rain by this evening with snow possible in the mountains either Sunday or Monday. But I am not holding my breath as each time they tell us that, the storm splits and goes north and south of us. But we will see. I am hoping to finish socks for my brother's Christmas present and then start on my dad's.  Guess I better start my day.  More posts later.

the view from where we park looking down the canyon
Last Saturday, we once again journeyed up Mill Creek Canyon for a morning walk and to enjoy the colors. It was a little windy at first but it warmed up on our way back down the canyon.  After our walk, we drive up the canyon to where we stopped and turned around for our walk.  There is a great little picnic area up the hill from there so we ate our breakfast and drank our coffee and enjoyed the day. It was so much fun. Mr80grit works Saturday the 23rd so we might not get our walk in that day but we will try.

Back in Hand Knits

On Monday I was able to wear hand knit socks to work for the first time this fall season.  I am hoping to wear them more often. My personal office gets quite warm if the sun is out and the front area heats up. But cold weather is forecast for later this week.  For now it is back to shorts.

Some knitting content

Mr80grit's New Hat that fits correctly
I think I am addicted to hats right now.
Delicious German Pancake, Gluten Free of course
I have completed Mr80grit's hat in the brown and white motif. It fits so much better than the first one. I already have Christmas plans for the other one.  I didn't have as much time knitting this week as I did the week before. I have already cast on for another hat in red and white. I am enjoying learning strand knitting and I am looking at either a sweater or mittens next. Maybe mittens to match the hats.  Currently not a lot is needed as it really isn't cold enough to wear as the weather is maintaining the high 60's and 70's for the most part.

On Saturday October 9th there was a gluten free expo at Southtowne Expo that Mr80grit and I attended. It was so great, lots of great samples. Mr80grit bought a sample from Ohmyglutenfree of their flour that you are suppose to be able to swap for normal flour in any receipe.  So last night for dinner we tried it in a German pancake. Yummy, with no weird aftertaste or texture. We are defiinately going to get more.

Today I become Chatty Cathy....

Well I had a great weekend. Hubby and I took a walk up Mill Creek Canyon.  The colors were at their prime.

We had a really great time on Saturday on our walk. So on Sunday, we went again with the parents. We are on sabbatical from our usual posts at church as we work audio/visual all summer with no breaks and we took a month off. But we only missed church the last two Sundays.  It has been very freshening and restoring and we are ready to get back at it with renewed joy.

I have been reading some of my cousins blogs lately and I am deciding if I will add more personal stuff on my blog like personal pictures etc. I am still debating as I have not been that active on the blog this summer and I wonder if the lack of connection to the blog is because of that. I don't know but I am looking into it and you may see changes coming I will let you know.

On the knitting front, I am addicted to strand knitting and knitting up a hat every three days. The first brown hat for P(mr80grit) was a little small on reflection. I made myself the reverse colored hat at the larger size and had him try it on and I like the look so much better.  So I immediately cast on a new brown hat for him.  I have an idea where the smaller hat is going to have a home at soon but not saying at this time as Christmas is just a few months away!

I am walking in the mornings these days, it is really helping my back and I have found myself addicted to that as well. This am it was 37 degrees when I set out for the walk which was the coldest so far. I wore my gray (First Strand) hat that I finished earlier this month. It kept me nice and warm,  I did put gloves on that the running store gave me but as they are cotton my hands were still pretty cold for most of the walk. Looks like some knitted mittens are in my future.

Speaking of the running store, I bought new shoes there are Saturday evening and will be returning them tonight for an exchange. These new shoes make my toes go numb and the balls of my feet hurt. They are a brand I have worn before but I never used them for serious walking, I used them when I worked on the steel and concrete floors at my old job.  I think what I need now is something a lot different, so tonight P and I are headed back to see what can be done. Will update more later.

The Weekend

My first strand or fake fair isle project.  It is a hat for me and it fits!
View from walk on Saturday through Mill Creek Canyon
I love the leaves on the ground!
I have an awesome weekend. Mr80grit and I took a walk up Mill Creek Canyon Saturday morning. It was so beautiful, lots of reds and yellows. I will post more pictures later this week.  It was a nice temperature in the canyon but in the valley we were in the 80's all weekend long.

I took a class at my favorite LYS last Wednesday, that I have been wanting to take forever!  I finished the projects Saturday evening.  I have now cast on for another hat, this one with a star pattern.  I have fallen in love with strand knitting!!

Just a quick update for now!
