Top Ten on Tuesday

The Ten on Tuesday topic for 1/29 is 10 Ways to Beat the Winter Blahs. I am the total opposite of Carole, I love winter even with the inversion and single digit temperature days. I was born in February so that is another reason I love winter. I really love all seasons, but not a fan of extremely hot days - that is when you will here me complain LOT!  Snow makes me laugh and giggle like a little kid. In fact it is snowing again this morning/afternoon!!

  1. Knit with bright colors - it just makes me happy to think of when the season changes to spring and all the colors are bright and clean.
  2. Go for a hike. I love taking a walk/hike in the canyons. Just begin outside can lighten my mood.
  3. Have friends over for game night.
  4. Plan a nice date with the hubby, we did this on Sunday and it was awesome. We have a romantic dinner while it snowed outside, we had a beautiful view from the window of the restaurant.
  5.  Have a pajama/movie day with friends.
  6. Go for a drive, we usually do this when the inversion is too much and we head up to Park City to enjoy fresh air and good pizza!
  7. Plan the summer vacation!
  8. Have a cup of coffee, read a book and enjoy the snow falling outside.
  9. Head outside and enjoy the season - moving around helps
  10. Try something new: a new restaurant, a new museum, a new band playing somewhere
Have fun no matter what!

Snowy Sunday

Well the sky was seen this am on the way to church. It was so nice to breath fresh clean air. It was raining when we got out of church lightly. We ran some errands and made lunch. We decided to take the typical Sunday afternoon nap. While we were sleeping it turned into snow. We left the house at 4:45 pm to three inches of snow.  We had a date night at a fancy restaurant in Sandy. The food was awesome and the overall experience was amazing. When we got out of the restaurant two more inches at least had fallen. I took a picture of the arch outside the restaurant, it is fuzzy because of the snow. It had yet to stop snowing. We have at least eight inches of snow. It will be interesting to see what the morning brings. Overall thus was a very good weekend.

Foggy Saturday

After a busy morning,, back in bed to relax, read and enjoy a cup of Chai tea. We have had all winter weather this month: snow, black ice, single digit temperatures, smog, inversion, freezing rain and now fog. So today before an evening with the book club, I am all snuggled in to do a little reading (I finished the book for tonight already) then maybe a short nap. We are supposed to get snow tomorrow. I am so hoping, I still love snow.

Ten on Tuesday

Today the topic for Ten on Tuesday is 10 things you always have in your car. There is my list of things in my car other than manuals, tire jack, etc. It is the things I seem to use the most.
  1. Harry Potter on tape or CD  They always relax me when I listen to them so I always have one ready to go.
  2. a shawl - just in case in all seasons
  3. a garbage sack
  4. a pen
  5. anti-bacteria hand sanitizer
  6. toilet paper
  7. a pair of tennis shoes
  8. a tote bag
  9. usb charging cords for my phone and ipod
  10. marshall the bear - it is always nice to have someone to talk to when you drive, even if it is a stuffed animal :)

This is Marshall :)

Snowy Day

So far this winter has been snowier than last. This current storm started yesterday about 3 pm and when I left for work we had over 14 inches of snow.
Front door to sidewalk not shoveled this year.

Backyard..snow all the way to the door
It hasn't stopped snowing yet. I believe that it is suppose to sometime Saturday.  I love it even though wearing my new gloves I tripped the panic alarm on my keychain twice on the way to the van today.  I felt like an idiot. That is why I prefer my fingerless mittens over water resistant gloves.  Oh well it was 11:15 am I shouldn't have woke up anyone hopefully.

Ten on Tuesday

This week’s topic is a timely one: 10 Goals for 2013. I don't like resolutions but goals I do. I can understand goals. So here is mine.
  1. Take care of myself.  2012 was a struggle and it was because I wasn't outside walking like I did before.  Learning to manage my time and not over do it is also key.
  2. Toe-up socks. They have always been something on my list to do. So this year I am going to take pains to do.  I have already start on this yesterday, see picture above.  This might become the toe-up sock year.
  3. Knit out of my stash. This means that I look to my stash first before buying.  I have hit my sock yarn stash pretty hard the last year so I will have to buy this year. But I have some other yarn that I can use for other projects.
  4. Organize my office. I am totally blessed by where and whom I work for but my poor office does need some really organization to it.
  5. Repaint our bedroom.  We did the 2nd floor bedroom in August and love the room for sleep but I miss the master suite, so time to focus on this room this year.
  6. Read more. I have a book that I have wanted to read all the way through and this year I will complete it. I read a lot of books but few with intention so along those lines, I will also read every book in my book club.
  7. Get my passport!  With another possible trip to Washington this summer, it is time to get a passport.
  8. De-clutter my house.
  9. Go to the movies with hubby more.
  10. Leave myself open for surprises.

Back to work

Well it was back to work after 12 days off for the Christmas holidays. As I only stopped in once which was yesterday to grab Christmas decorations and only spoke to my boss once about work, it really felt like a vacation.

Things were slower than I imagined it would be, probably due to the fact that we started back on Thursday. I believe Monday will probably be crazy.

Coming home to a hot meal at the girls made the night fun and not so stressful. However, I am starting to feel the stress of not having anything on the knitting needles.

Well ending the day with a bubble bath and a book. I am so thankful for short work weeks.

Last day of winter break

I slept in until I was ready to get up. Enjoyed a hot bubble bath. I ran some errands. I painted my fingernails when I got home. I read my book for book club. Hubby and I enjoyed pizza and 3 episodes of Doctor Who. Ended the day with another bubble bath. Now into bed to read.

Still nothing on the needles yet.

New Year's day

Today was a late and slow wake up for the hubby and I. Several cups were required for me to get going. We went through all of our Christmas decorations and thinned the herd a bit.

This evening we had a wonderful dinner with A and E. It was ham, sweet potato fries and green beans. Now back to the house to finish up the Christmas stuff and maybe watch a little Doctor Who.

Nothing on the needles yet, maybe later tonight or tomorrow. I have a few errands to run tomorrow. Hubby goes back to work tomorrow and I head back to the office on Thursday. It has been really nice to have almost the whole break with him.

Happy 2013!

Good holiday season! Snow on Christmas eve and New Years eve. A glass of champagne with my honey to ring in the new year!
