Yesterday my family got a little quieter. My mom's cousin Dave died after a battle with Emphysema. I didn't have many opportunities to get to know him but I sure enjoyed those that I did. His laugh is what I remember most - very loud and very contagious. He talked very loud and told great stories.
I still have the 2 dollar bill that he got us three girls (his daughter, my cousin and me who are about the same age) at the dog track. He is going to be missed greatly by all. He lived in Colorado for the last part of his life so the picture of the pines made sense to my mind.
