Yarn Along - March 13

Joining Ginny this week talking about what we are knitting and reading

I am on the last square of the four corners afghan - Baby Afghan Paasch.  I am under the deadline now as the baby shower is on the 23rd.  I am still reading Let's Pretend it Never Happened and I picked up A Place of Secrets last week at the library.  I am working away on my Odessa, it is a great travel project. Also listening to The Outlander

So what are you reading and what are you knitting?

Yarn Store

I didn't have enough on my needles, but I went to the yarn store today to pick up some needles. I ended up with the sock yarn in the yellow/brown/gray tones.  I know I am out of my mind but I will stay warm!

NOT Ready

I am not ready for this phase of my life. I know that I am over a certain age but I thought it would be at least 10 years from now before I needed readers. But not so, last week while hubby was off work we stopped and picked up some readers.
While I am thrilled that I can now read easier both at work on the computer, enjoying a book at home and knitting, now I find myself using them to read the texts on my phone as my smart phone is dumb and you can not increase the font. How stupid is that??? Oh well, next phone will have that ability.  But for now the readers will have to do.

Yarn Along - Slow Progress Edition

This week I have made progress mainly on my afghan. I completed the yellow square, the gray square (it was suppose to be green but the green that I liked was Cascade 220 Heather 100% wool and I am knitting with Berraco Vintage Wool, so had to choose something that worked.) I am now on the red square and really liking the colors, perfect for a baby boy.

On the reading side, I have been not as focused so I am only about 100 pages into the book.  I am laughing like my friend said I would but not as much as I thought I would, so I am still up in the air.

I probably didn't read as much due to the fact that I did add another hat on the needles.  This project was for my sanity. I have a mom at my work who brings her daughter for guitar lessons on Tuesday who has been working on a hat for now six weeks.  For several different reasons it has had to be ripped out and cast on again.  Last week I decided to find out what the issue was as I never knitted this hat myself. So over the weekend, I cast the hat on and did about 2 inches. So yesterday she comes in and there is a problem the hat is twisted on the needles. So we rip it out and I cast it on again for her and knit 3 rows. During the conversation we talk about readers (you know those reading glasses). I have recently had to start using them to read etc. She mentions that she needs to get glasses, I look up at her (from her knitting) with my glasses on and say that might help with the hat/knitting situation.  (insert my head shake).  So here is my verision of the hat so far.

What are you knitting and reading?

Ten on Tuesday

The Ten on Tuesday topic for 3/5 is 10 Reasons You're Happy it's March. I think I can do this one!

  1. Sunlight. We usually start getting more of this and about this time in the season I am ready for it!
  2. Preston's birthday. My husband's birthday is this month and after a few years of not wanting to celebrate his birthday, he back on the band wagon, making it more fun for all of us.
  3. Raining days. Snow usually gives way to rain which I love more than snow.
  4. Spring Break. This year my spring break starts at the end of the month. I am pretty excited about this, I am ready for sometime off.
  5. Warmer days. This means I have no excuses not to start my daily walks back up.
  6. More daylight...the days are getting longer which means camping season is getting closer.
  7. Flowers will start to bloom, I am now ready for the seasons to change and for spring to slowly come and stay a long time. (NOT a fan of hot days.)
  8. St Patrick's Day. We don't do much about this one but I love it anyway.
  9. Easter is in March this year.
  10. Outside time. Being able to spend time outside without a coat!

Birthdays Done!

We celebrate two birthdays in six days as my house. The first was mine on the 24th of February, followed by my hubby on the 2nd of March.  He loves to say for six days that he is married to an older woman. He is so funny.

My birthday involved many different types of gluten free goodies, yarn, and snow.

His birthday involved coffee, peanut butter, chocolate, bacon, french toast, chocolate, and sunshine. (He wanted snow but the closest he got was rain on Sunday)
