Catching up this week.

Hubby convince me to take one of the pairs that I knitted this year for my own today as an early birthday present. I have to say they are my favorite pair of socks as they really fit my foot.  It is a short row heel without a gusset.  After wearing all day they still stay up and aren't huge on my feet.

Saturday was a very busy crazy day. Praise band practice in the morning. Helping with A/V for a funeral of an amazing 88 year old man. After the funeral/memorial service I wish I had gotten to know him as he was a character.
This was my favorite visitor at work this week.  His name is Taggart, he is a Burmese Mountain puppy. I met him a few weeks ago and his owner could easily carry him now he is much bigger, but so adorable. One day I want a dog like this.

Socks Down, Socks Up

Last night I had no focus to do cables, so I finished my first socks of 2015. Then instead of going to work on the afghan, I found myself casting on new socks, these will be a new thing as they are toe up. I have tried once before to do toe-up and I failed. This year again on my list to learn was toe - up. So I first tried the turkish cast on which I will try again, then I did the Jenny Magic Cast on. I am doing a MKAL  for the toe-up sock. The 2nd clue came out on Wednesday, so I am a week behind.

The mystery sock will have cables so I am excited to see what happens.

Three on Thursday

Yes, I stole the idea from Carole's blog today.  This week has been categorized as not fun.
1. Hubby bought a new hard drive for the computer and then I took from Saturday Night until late Tuesday night before it was ready for me to use again. This meant watching regular television instead of streaming at night.  So I watched a lot of football and caught parts of both World Series games.

2. A wonderful young talent man that was part of the music program at my work, past away on Monday night.  How or why doesn't need to be discussed here but the loss is quite deeply felt by all.  He was amazingly talented and will be dearly missed by all. As I answer the phones for the business/school I have heard quite a few amazing and wonderful stories about him, the emotion of this loss has taken its toll on me and each day after work it takes a while for me to recover.

3. I am getting a lot of knitting done on Christmas presents and probably will finish the pair for my brother today as I just have a few inches left on the foot before the toe decreases. I love catching a few minutes in the morning to knit outside after my walk as the weather while cool in the morning has been sunny.

End of the Week

The end of the week was a little crazy, had to go for coffee on the way to work on Thursday and then again on Friday...Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Finished Em's socks on Thursday night, relaxed on the patio this morning after my walk, getting a little Vitamin D.  Then dinner on the patio with a little knitting of the new socks for Preston, along with a well deserved hard cider.

This week's goal completed

This week I wanted to complete the 2nd sock of the gray socks that I have had on the needles since March 31st as of few moments they are now finished. They just need a bath and block, then they will be ready to send on their way to their new home in Fort Worth Texas.

President's day

I love having the day off. I had lunch with mom and we did a little shopping. Then I came home and knitted on the second sock.

Mom's day

Today was my mom's birthday. My brother Jeff organized us for dinner, only missing the other brother. We brought dinner to her and dad. It was great fun and filled with joy.

I made a little head way on Sissi's sock, to the start of the heel flap.

We got a little snow

Well it tried to snow all day yesterday and rained more than anything. But as we were heading to bed last night it was snowing and sticking to the grass. This morning it was snowing when Mr80grit left for work and I had a wonderful morning walk in the snow. I only got one photo but I will share.
As this is the first snow, it never really sticks and never on the sidewalks. Cars? yes. Greenery? yes.

I wore one of my favorite pairs of socks yesterday. I love the yarn colors and the pattern which is the Burrow I believe.  I haven't had my cup of coffee yet so bear with me.

So that is all for now. The snow isn't suppose to stay for now but that is okay.

Complete 2nd Project from 2009

Last night after watching movies and television DVD episodes I was on the toe of the last sock of the Pookie Socks.  This morning I got up and finished an episode of bones and finished the toe.  Yeah!  I am so excited. Now I will have to focus on the shawl but I did cast on a hat for myself for knitting when not at home.

Coffee and a little knitting.

Good Morning Tuesday! It is a beautiful stormy day here in Salt Lake. Perfect for a little coffee and knitting. A few weeks ago or maybe it was a month ago, Mr80grit moved the coffee pot from the first floor kitchen up to the 3rd floor master bedroom. That was a brilliant idea if there ever was one! Now I brew my own instead of grabbing it at the local coffee shack. (Sorry...must have more coffee....)

I am back...now on to Mr80grit. Since he was so very wonderful during the last three crazy months of my corporate job I thought he deserved another pair of socks so about a week and a half ago we went to our favorite LYS and I let him pick out his yarn. One color for the thank you socks and one color for his birthday socks. So here is a picture of the 2nd sock of the thank you socks. Better know in our house as HP socks, they are Lorna Lace Shepherd Sport color Flames but because of the pooling the color looks like Griffendor House colors.

Here is a close up of the first sock finished on Sunday. He really, really likes them and gives me all the time I need to knit them as he wants to wear them to church on Sunday. Yes, with his Hawaiian Shirt, Shorts and crocs. He is cute and I love him!

Knitting a goodbye

Well as I am in the habit of knitting socks for occasions, I couldn't help myself from knitting a pair of socks for the day I sign my severance package. So one sock is complete...now I need to finish the other one!

First project for 2009 complete.

Some knitting has been done this year. I was half way through these two pairs of socks when the new year began. They are socks for my Music Minister and his wife. He is a big Broncos fan so I tried to find a colorway close to that. He wears a size 12 shoe so I used the remaining yarn out of the skein for his wife's sock so that using two skeins I got a pair for both of them. Now I can wait to give them their socks.
