Busy Weekend and Birthday Fun!

Well it happened last week, I turned a year older!  Woohoo!  I did actually accomplish some goals that I set for myself last year but I am not quite ready to share with everyone yet. Sorry, you will have to wait a while longer.
I did have a good birthday day starting with coffee in the morning before work.
It was suppose to snow on Thursday but it didn't.  My first gluten free treat was cupcake cereal. Yes I am still a kid at heart!
It was then off to a busy at times day at the office. I had lunch at work of my usual lunch favorites, cheese, crackers and carrots.
My mom stopped by a little later with a little goodie bag and card.
The hubby came by before the end of work with a card, then went and got dinner and dessert to take to our friends.  It was my favorites Chinese food and flour-less chocolate torte from my favorite restaurant.
We got to eat and hang out with friends, re-watching my favorite movie Blind Side.

The next day Hubby stopped by again with part two of my birthday gift, a beautiful plant for my office.

I am going to enjoy it each day.  He will be checking to make sure I water it as I am known to have a black thumb.  The pot is red and black. It looks great in my office.  After work we head to a dinner party with friends from church. The food was awesome but didn't get any picture.

Saturday was another busy day, with praise band practice, lunch with the parents at Stella's, a quick buying trip to Unraveled Sheep for needles and sock yarn.  We did audio/visual for a Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet. That was a lot of fun.  Most of Saturday the weather was winter, with it snowing all day.  It really didn't get deep where we are but Mom and Dad had a foot of snow before noon.
Sunday has been not as crazy but nice and sunny.  Praise band at 8:30 am with both services following. Then it was time to catch up with shopping and lunch etc. Now it is time to do a little laundry, a little knitting and a lot of relaxing before the week starts.  The hubby has his birthday on Wednesday and I need to plan some great things for him too!

That time again

Yes I can't believe it is already my birthday again. My mom dropped off this cute little mug and balloon along with a coffee from the local Java place. Yum!

I finished another Baby Surprise Jacket except for the buttons. I have the buttons I just ran out of time this morning to get them sewn on before heading to work.  My mom wanted to see the sweater so I brought it with me to work.  I will add the buttons tonight or tomorrow. Then get it ready to give to my SIL. (if you are family and reading this, please don't let her know, it is a surprise.)

I have started on the fingerless mitts that a friend wants for her band photos.  The yarn is a black/purple and will go great with her black outfit. She is the keyboard player for the band.  I made some Christmas ones for her and her two daughters which they love. I love having multiple friends that love and enjoy hand knit items

I also started a pair of socks for myself that somewhat match a pair I did for Mr80grit.  I didn't get much knitting don't yesterday. In fact none was done. It was one of those nights that you know that you need to go to bed early as you are fighting something, it is just on the edge and a good night sleep will knock it out? That is what I did and now I feel tons better, ready to celebrate the day!

Busy Weekends..Busy Monday

Well the month flew by and so did my weekend. We spent the evening at our favorite restaurant tonight celebrating Mr80grit's birthday. We had a ball as the place was slow so we got to talk to most all of our favorite's there. Now we both need sleep!

The Actual Birthday day

I start my day off with some beautiful berries pictured below...picture taken before I add the whipped cream. Yummy! I followed it up with a bubble bath and chocolate!

Then it was off to work with Mr80grit driving me and setting me up with my normal lunch which today wasn't bad because Mom stopped by with coffee from my favorite local hut. Yummy! She visited with me and then was off again.

Mr80grit picked up wonderful gluten free cupcakes and then made dinner at home. See his blog to see how big a deal that was. It was totally a delightful day.

Day One

Okay..first day of my new age. Things I am hoping to accomplish this year. To blog everyday but be okay with myself if I only get 5 of the 7 days blogged.

I am going to make healthier food and lifestyle choices.

I am going to knit projects that I really love not ones that should be done!

Some examples of projects I am enjoying are the following:

This beautiful pink stole...

Here it is close up

Mr80grit's birthday socks...I really like Lorna Laces yarn!

So now off to pamper myself for my birthday before work!

The day before...

it is the day before I start my journey of my last year in my thirties. I decided that I am going to use this year to prepare for the next decade. I have set some goals to reach each day, month and quarter. I wish I would have done this when I turned 29 but you can't go back. My 29th year was crazy anyway. So I am using today to set the goals up, finish off a few things to get ready. It isn't that I am dreading the next decade, it just takes time to get use to a think but I hear that they are great years. So let us see!
