A family gathering

Let me just say now, I love my husband's family. All of them. Especially all the family from his mom's side. There is one cousin that is the best at organizing, anything, anytime. She is the one that makes sure we have family gatherings, vacations etc and we all know about them. I would call her very lovingly our family cruise director, because she even makes spring cleaning fun. (yes, she reads my blog too!)

This week her and her handsome son is in town helping my SIL with spring cleaning, decorating my nephew #1 new bedroom. So tonight they threw a party and all that could come did. Which meant much food, fun and laughter. We took a ton of pictures especially of all the kiddos! Sorry no posted here but I will share the food!

Here are the strawberries that we dipped in chocolate.

Here is the gluten free pecan pie that Mr80grit got for me to share. Everyone loved it but I was able to bring some home. Yummy!

The cheese, grape and bread plate. Wonderful director made sure I had cheese and carrots that hadn't touch any bread or gluten. I just love her!!!!

Aren't these the cutest little sponge cakes. Our personal cruise director brought them. I got to find a good gf recipe to make small bundt cakes like this.

Flowers on the table. So beautiful I had to take a picture.

What an awesome time! With the new job, less stress, less hours we hope to do more family things in the future. There is a big event in July with family dinners and a trip to Preston Idaho for rodeo days???maybe.

No knitting news, maybe tomorrow.

A lost week into a weekend

I am back after a long week fighting what I thought were allergies which was actually allergies with a underlying cold. After a crazy week ending on Friday...I crawled into my jammies and stayed there all weekend long. Mr80grit was wonderful, we had homemade meals, he rented a video that I wanted to see. No knitting has really been done in a week as I was totally drained by the time I got home each day. I spent a lot of time on Saturday and Sunday on the couch with 'nurse' Isabelle and 'nurse' Fergie. They kept me warm and all the TLC I wanted. Little China I think was not feeling well on Saturday and only came downstairs once but on Sunday was up and down the stairs all day. China's health always seem to parallel mine, it is wierd but I swear that little kitty china has the same allergies as I do.

But this morning I woke up feeling a ton better. The sun was shinning on the four inches of snow we got under the night..most of which has now melted. Maybe I will get some photos of the shawl in the beautiful sunlight this week. Depending on the storms.

Blocking completed

Well this weekend I did get the blocking done. This is the rack that we do all the dry flat clothes on. It is so awesome! Five levels and blows unheated air so things dry quickly.

I also got my forest canopy shawl blocked. Here it is pinned. It measured 72 x 41 inches.

I absolutely love it and even wore it on Sunday. But it was dark and cloudy yesterday so no good photos were taken. Then today it snowed. Which I was happy about as that kept the pollen from blowing around today so tonight my allergies are on the down/low side.

I am happy spring has arrived, it just is an allergy yucky time. I am very limited in what I can take so I do what I can and try to ignore it.

too much to block, not enough time

I have been knitting and did finish the birthday socks for Mr80grit. Now it is time to do some serious washing and blocking. I have two pair of socks for him to wear and a shawl that needs to be blocked as I need it for this beautiful spring weather. Too warm in the morning for a coat but too cool not to have something. Plus the new shawl is wonderful colors of greens and such. So I have set a goal of the projects to be on the drying racks by tomorrow night at the very least.

Sunny Saturday

Well we are getting beautiful days but still cold temperatures in the morning. I got a new camera this week but I haven't taken it outside to take picture yet and I am learning how to use it as it is more advanced that my old point and shoot digital. But pictures will be coming.

Mr80grit (named so for his face if he has shaved) has been enjoying my new camera also. He is the researcher and deal finder. I just told him what I want, gave him the money (it was a gift to myself) and he came home with what I wanted and I didn't get annoyed with his questions at the store it was a whole win, win situation.

On the knitting front I have half a sock left to do on Mr80grit's birthday socks and I am so bored with it that I am having a tough time finishing it, but I have set a goal to finish it this weekend as I want to do the BFF socks by Cookie A.

Must go enjoy the sunshine or take a nap...

Busy Weekends..Busy Monday

Well the month flew by and so did my weekend. We spent the evening at our favorite restaurant tonight celebrating Mr80grit's birthday. We had a ball as the place was slow so we got to talk to most all of our favorite's there. Now we both need sleep!
